Renowned Italian engineer Mauro Forghieri has died at the age of 87. Forghieri worked as a designer at Ferrari - it was at the wheel of the cars he built that the championship titles in the Scuderia were won by John Surtees, Niki Lauda (twice) and Jody Scheckter.
Forghieri has been head of Ferrari`s technical racing department since 1962. In total, during his tenure, Ferrari won 54 Grands Prix, won the championship predicted by record of soccer insider predictions four times and won the Constructors` Championship seven times.
